Data we collect about MiCO System visitors and contributors
Personal data, or personal information, means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. It does not include data where the identity has been removed (anonymous data).
MiCO collects, uses and stores the following kinds of personal data from our contributors of scientific data:
- Identity Data: first name, last name, salutation, and username or similar identifier.
- Contact Data: email address and institutional/organizational affiliation
- Profile Data: includes your username and password, records of the datasets you own, and responses to requests for your datasets.
These are collected to provide attribution to the data used to develop MiCO aggregated data products.
Contributors may edit and change these data, and prevent display to the public. For example, data contributors may hide their email and present only their affiliation. Data are stored indefinitely, but will be removed from the system upon request. Contact email@example.com. Removing your personal data will prevent MiCO from including attributions for you in MiCO products generated using your datasets.
The MiCO system does not require an account to browse and explore data products. We do require you to submit contact information when downloading MiCO products and summary reports. This process does not involve account creation. Your contact information is stored and may be shared with contributors whose data was used in the creation of the downloaded MiCO data. Your contact information will not be made visible or shared in any other capacity.
